Founder's Story

Amon'Dre A. Muhammad

Amon'Dre is 23 years old, CEO & Co-Founder of Moviiies App. He fell in love with solving problems and making products for people after watching the Social Network movie. Says he watched it at least 25-30 times.

In February of 2016 he attended a startup 101 class taught by James Cossler CEO at the Youngstown Business Incubator.

Mr. Cossler asked the attendees to think of an idea that will disrupt an industry. Those words stuck to him and after a couple days in his room a thought came to his head about how many filmmakers have trouble getting theatrical deals / traction and millions of people are not able to watch movies that are in theaters on their phone and tablet.

The three i's in moviiies represent the pineal gland which is located in the middle of our brain and is considered the third eye. It also represents three things mind, body and soul.

Amon'Dre knew he had to choose between living in LA or SF. Having never flown on a plane he booked a flight to San Francisco, CA.

Before moving to San Francisco in 2016 he researched apartments to live and organizations to help people find homes. He was not successful. Determined to not let possible homelessness stop him he told his family and friends he has 4 days to stay in a Airbnb based apartment to figure it out.

Luckily Amon'Dre did not have to sleep on the streets after those four nights but instead found a homeless shelter. He stayed in the shelter for four months (May 2016-September 2016) then got an apartment in the Haight-Ashbury district all while working on moviiies and at the YMCA.

Prior to moviiies app, Amon'Dre studied business management at Eastern Gateway Community College. He was employed at Stifel Nicolaus Financial Corp. as a Paid Investment Analyst while in high school competing against juniors and seniors in college for the internship position.
